    A Soft Release is a specially designed piece of webbing used while detensioning slacklines or highlines.  It works by wrapping the soft release webbing a minimum of 5 times, connecting two rated connectors and securing the velcro strap.  Be sure to tie a safety knot as a backup.   The friction of the wraps plus the securing velcro strap ensures the soft release webbing does not slip while you session hard.  When you are ready to detention your slackline, simply undo your security knot and velcro strap, then slowly allow the extra webbing to slide between the two connectors.   Soft releases are easy to use and will save you a lot of time on your derig.
